

The Giant's Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic eruption. ( Or is it ? ) It is also known as Clochán an Aifir or Clochán na bhFomhórach in Irish and tha Giant's Causey in Ulster-Scots. Wikipedia
It lies at the foot of the basalt cliffs along the sea coast on the edge of Antrim Plateau
According to legend, the columns are the remains of a causeway built by a Giant. Apparently the Irish giant Fionn mac Cumhall ( Fin MacCool ) was challenged to a fight by the Scottish giant Benandonner .... and the rest, as they say is history...
