wow..roller coaster of a week...it started with a kiss

It started with a kiss.....well no not really.... it started with a CV
and that was a week ago....
Related image( I saw a nice li'l part time position advertised and quickly sent my cv across) not really expecting a reply
but a li'l later that day  I recieved a call inviting me to an interview with the recruitment agency
( yeah thats kind of what I thought...a ploy to get another member on their books )
And the inerview was arranged for the same day!!!   I was in shock
For all intents and purposes it seemed a very positive meeting...staff were all really friendly
They assured me they would be in touch.. ( i didnt hold my breath )
It was about 3 days after when I got another call from the agency saying they had secured me an interview with the company!!  Yes once again I was in shock...deeper shock!!
She advised me to research the company and prep well ( which I did)
I was the 1st on the list for interview...9am...I arrived at 8.30!!! ( well Id been up since 3am!! )
waited outside for a while ( didnt want to appear over eager!! lol )
Once again the interview went very well ...had a really good rapport with the company receptionist ( which would be the position I would be sharing)
And things just seemed to get better...meeting with PA  seemed very positive ( I didnt want to hope for too much and told myself... 'It was good practice to have lots of interviews... even if I didnt get the job!!'
She said she had interviews all day and also one next week.....
I came out and sighed a big sigh of relief... I did my best and its now in the lap of the Gods
Image result for they offered me the job job cartoonThe recruitment agency contacted me to ask how it went   and I assured them I'd done my best...
So yes long weekend .. wandering...doubting...planning..
And as promised I was contacted on the Monday...
Imagine my surprise...shock...amazement...excitement when she told me they wanted to offer me the job..... I couldnt stop thanking the woman from the agency...who assured me how very pleased they were too have me on board  ( well you could of knocked me down with a feather )
I feel very humbled to have the chance at another job at my age (54)
so needless to say lots of prayers offered today ( as always)

decisions...decisions

new year...new job  ?????

Image result for decisionsRelated imageImage result for decisions

so I ended last year not sure if I'd done the right thing...I decided to bite the bullet and leave my job
without having a new one to go to....very impulsive I know
and the last few weeks have consisted of job applications and interviews..and yes I am feeling very fortunate to even be offered an interview..
not all were suitable..some were miles away...some were less money than the job i'd left and that was only just above minimum wage !!!!
so a job has come my way that ticks some of the boxes..
and now my head is aching ...with

shall I ...sharnt I   ????

should i wait...is something else better going to come along ????

itchy feet

so this is another example of a well known saying

Meaning: If you have itchy feet, you feel the need to go somewhere different or do something different.

and it sums up exactly how ive been feeling for the last couple of months

But as usual I thought...  ( yes I know thinking is probably not my strongest point )

' I could run before I could walk '

Idiom Definitions for 'Run before you can walk'

If someone tries to run before they can walk, they try to do something requiring a high level of knowledge before they have learned the basics.
Yep that sounds about right....I think I should of checked out what i needed for these jobs before I handed my notice in....cus it looks like I needed more experience than what i have !!!!  Image result for hands over eyes monkey emoji
Yep that just about sums me up ...... a monkey !!!!
so most of the companies that have contacted me, ref my application...
'Yes you sound ideal....just the type of person we are looking for...but we need someone with more experience, you need to get in with a company that has experienced staff so as you can learn from them'
Yep thank you.....thats what I'm trying to do ....
And there was no way I was ever going to develop my skills in my previous employment....
Oh well onwards and upwards....Image result for confused smiley

So a New Year is looming

So we are just 2 days left of 2016....and it certainly looks like there will be some changes for me...
hopefully all good...

My job of 20 months has now ended ...due to several factors...
Related image
  • needing something more challenging now ( i may live to regret saying that !)
  • no opportunity to develop skills or progress
  • the bosses being completly unprofessional on many levels ( 4 members of staff left in 8 months including myself )
  • more money would be nice.....
so  I am busy sending cv and making calls

And one thing this year has learnt me is that life is short and dont let the grass grow beneath your feet ( another saying there )

Don't let the grass grow under one's feet - Dictionary.com

www.dictionary.com/browse/don-t-let-the-grass-grow-under-one-s-feet

Act now, don't delay. For example, Write your applications today; don't let the grass grow under your feet. This expression alludes to waiting so long that grass grows

Bcus if we are not happy with our  'job lot'  then we need to at least try to do something about it....and if it dosnt work out well HEY

I will have to keep looking

so ...as they say...lets get back to brass tacks

Funny isnt it that as youngsters we are bought up with many different sayings....
And as you would expect we take them as gospel and know exactly what they mean  ( well we know what our parents/families mean when they say them!)....so to my blog

The saying ' Lets get back to brass tacks' came to mind when i was about to blog today...
And then it crossed my mind that just maybe it didnt mean what I thought it did Image result for shocked smiley  so I thought I better check first
Brass tacks are a type of pin or nail, sometimes called a drawing pin. In colloquial English, the phrase to get down to brass tacks is an idiom that means to focus on essential details, such as measuring out the precise amount of an item for sale.

So there you have it....lol

And funnily enough that wasnt even what my blog was

about.....I was scanning my emails for any suitable jobs

which I could apply for and checking my cv etc

and as they say...i thought yep

' time to get back to brass tacks'          wish me luck.......

Wot a week !!!!

Amazin Monday...I think....time will tellso i decided it was about time i tried something different!!!  In a career context!!  which is no mean feat at my age!!!! ( over half a century, well just about )

I spotted something on line thought that sounds interesting...i could do that....cant be to difficult.
So sent in the old CV...minus my age, obviously, and was amazed to get a phone call off some 1 who sounded lovly but sounded about as old as my youngest (13 !!! ),
'If u r still interested in the job u applied for we would like u 2 attend a group interview'
OMG i had an interview to attend...scary stuff...wot to wear...how to wear my hair..make-up...lippy....??????  oh yes and i will def need to research the company a li'l!!!   that always helps, so i've been told
Not surprisingly it was full of people who were not much older than my grandchildren....ok slight exaggeration......but they were def just out of school!!!Ice breakers done...couple of mental exercises ( wel i definitly gonna be ok with that!! if u get my drift ) and we cud go, with the assurance that they wud b in touch very soon...evry 1 politely offering each other goodluck...as u do.....fantastic it was.time for kwik exit and a chardonnay or 2......
My phone was ringing and I recognised the number...yes it was The Company.....Amazingly they were offering Me a second interview....WTF.....evry ! else must av decided not to bother!!!
So prep for 2nd interview....clothes makeup...etc  ( li'l glass of chardonnay !!).......sweaty palms to say the least......i wiped it kwikly on my lovly beige pencil skirt....before i finally shook the hands of the interviewers and sighed a big sigh of relief on the way down the stairs......( any one know how long u r supposed to hold on to their hand???????.......it seemed too long.  LMAO  ).... They'll be intouch.......they assured me...
And theres more!!!
Checked the phone several times...ok a thousand times!!!  time for bed exhausted zzzzzzzzzzzz
Sure enough next day phone ringing, recognised the number
If u r still interested we wud like 2 offer u the job
pik me self up off the floor steady meself and heard myself sayin
'thank you very much...look forward to seeinggggg you'  in my very best voice....
Yep time for a Chardonnay
Wish me luck....(and wiv me job...lol  )

So i have done my 1st day which turned out to b a training day....head ready to explode with all the information that got throwed at us...( yes there was a couple of the others from the interviews that had also made it.....)  and it was the end of my 1st day........
time for a well earned glass ov Chardonnay!!!!
