turmeric...healing powers ?

So I have just read an article on turmeric....was I thinking of having an Indian meal, you might ask...
Image result for turmericThats what I would of thought before reading this article ...
Turmeric was something I associated with Indian food ( to be fair most things I think about could be associated with Indian food..I love it  ðŸ˜ƒ)
But apparently turmeric has many health benefits including:
Joint health
Flexibility
( both of which wold be really useful for my yoga )
some of the research I found...

(  Reportedly best when paired with curcumin and another plant extract called soy lecithin ( creating a supplement that is extremely absorbable )

  • It’s important to note that most studies on turmeric have been carried out using very strong extracts in high doses. You’d have to eat an awful lot of curries to get that much curcumin into your system! Though turmeric supplements are available, Rob Hobson, Healthspan’s Head of Nutrition explains why it’s not that easy to reap the benefits: “If what you eat is not absorbed from your intestine then it passes through without any benefit. The problem is that curcumin isn’t naturally water-soluble, so the body struggles to absorb it. To truly gain the benefits of curcumin you will need to take a supplement, but finding one that is bioavailable is the key issue.”
  • Turmeric and curcumin supplements are considered safe when taken at the recommended doses. However, taking large amounts of turmeric for long periods of time may cause stomach upset and, in extreme cases, ulcers. ... If you have diabetes, talk to your doctor before taking turmeric supplements.  )
I will certainly be giving it a go...as I believe that good flexibility and healthy joints are paramount for a quality active life.... ( this may well involve more visits to my favorite Indian restaurant 😜 )

Always remember when taking new supplements or drugs etc
that they are suitable for you  and your personal health problems ..a pharmacist is always a good source of information
